Artifacts

NFT miners that generate MST tokens for their owners
What are Artifacts
Digital collectible assets (NFTs) with economic utility. Each artifact is tied to a specific element and mines MST tokens for the owner.
Key Features
Core characteristics that make artifacts valuable in the Mystic Forge ecosystem
- Five rarity tiers: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary

- Limited supply (varies by element)

- Artifacts mine MST while storage has space. Claim within 7 days.

- Transparent economic mechanics with open formulas

- Finite lifetime: when all MST is mined the artifact becomes a Relic and never mines again

Rarity System & Income
Each rarity level has specific income multipliers with Tree element examples

Supply & Distribution
Planned amounts per element and how they are distributed
- Earth, Water — 100,000 artifacts each; Fire, Air — 10,000 each

- Basic elements are distributed for free through events, giveaways, and activity rewards

- Other elements — 100–5,000 per element; created in the Forge through crafting

- Special event elements (Easter, WLD, etc.) — available in limited event packs

- Current amounts can be found in the Forge recipes

How to Obtain
Multiple ways to acquire artifacts in the Mystic Forge ecosystem
- Craft in the Forge. You get an artifact only if one is still free when the craft starts (then the element comes out fractured). Later artifact-awarding crafts roll rarity, including Legendary. No free slot means no artifact and no rarity roll. See also: Crafting Mechanics

- First Discovery of a new element always awards a Legendary artifact — guaranteed, not a rarity roll

- Opening packs — artifact slots determine what drops See also: Packs

- Failed discovery attempts award Cracked Shard artifacts as consolation

Daily Rate Formula
Artifact daily MST is determined by a transparent formula
- The first day mines at 100% of your current daily rate. Each following day the speed drops by 5%, and mining stops after 7 days until you claim. Daily claims stay the most profitable.

- Higher element craft cost = higher base income

- Higher rarity mines faster and yields more total MST over the artifact's life

- Besides rarity modifiers, basic elements have their own multiplier for early‑game balance (see the list below)

Lifetime MST & Relics
Each artifact has a limited MST stock. It mines at a flat daily rate until the stock is gone, then becomes a Relic and stops. Higher rarity mines faster and holds a larger stock.
Pick a rarity to see daily rate, lifetime multiple, and 24/7 lifespan. All values are derived from live game config.

payback multiple equals lifetime multiple versus full element cost. See also: Crafting Mechanics
